The police and the Shin Bet announced that this morning (Friday) indictments will be filed against two Israeli Arabs - a 16-year-old boy from the Galilee, and a 19-year-old resident of Haifa - on suspicion that they swore allegiance to the ISIS organization and planned to carry out attacks against security forces.
According to the police and Shin Bet statement, one planned to attack police and soldiers on the Temple Mount and the other planned an attack on an IDF base in the north.
The teenager, a resident of the Galilee, was arrested on August 4 in a joint operation by the Shin Bet and the central unit of the Northern District of the police. According to the investigation, it emerged that he had made contact and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State organization.
During his interrogation, it emerged that the boy had begun viewing and searching the Internet for content that included instructions for making explosive belts. The investigation also revealed that he intended to carry out an attack against Jewish police and soldiers on the Temple Mount.
Several days after his arrest, and as the investigation progressed, Ibrahim Kaabia, a 19-year-old resident of Haifa, was arrested. He was also suspected of pledging allegiance to ISIS, and his interrogation revealed that he had planned to carry out an attack on an IDF base in the northern region.
Upon completion of the investigation, the Haifa District Attorney's Office is expected to file indictments against the two this morning to the Haifa District Court.
Alongside the indictments, a request will be filed to order their arrest until the end of the proceedings.
The Shin Bet and the police said that they view seriously the involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger the security of the state and its citizens.
They said they will use all means at their disposal to bring those involved in this type of activity to justice.
