Violent conflict, arrests and indictment: Shi'a District investigators conducted an investigation into a serious violent incident that occurred in the city of Modi'in Illit, leading to the arrest of those involved, the seizure of assault weapons, and the filing of the first indictment against the main suspect.

The investigation into the violent incident, which took place in July in the ultra-Orthodox city of Modi'in Illit, began following a report of a violent fight during which several boys and young men - some residents of the ultra-Orthodox city and some residents of Tel Aviv - who were armed with clubs and knives attempted to harm family members who were residents of the city, due to a previous dispute.

Also, during the attack, which took place in the city's commercial center, gunfire was fired - and miraculously, there were no casualties.

This was a violent incident that crossed "red lines" and could have led to significant harm to innocent people, while harming the city's residents' sense of security. Therefore, its investigation was assigned to the Youth Exposure Division in the central unit of the Shi'a District, in full cooperation with the Modi'in Illit station.

During the operation against the suspects, various assault weapons were seized and evidence was collected against them.

During the investigation, both overtly and covertly, 14 people involved in the attack were arrested, including a resident of Modi'in Illit accused of carrying out the shooting.

Evidence was collected against this defendant in recent days that matured into an evidentiary foundation, and the findings of the investigation into his case were transferred to the Central District Attorney's Office, which prepared and filed a serious indictment today (Thursday), including charges of shooting and aggravated assault.

The investigation of the remaining people involved is still ongoing, and the investigation materials for some of them have been transferred to the prosecution in order to examine the evidence and prepare additional indictments for violent offenses.

""The Israel Police will work to eradicate acts of violence, especially in cases involving minors, arrest suspects and bring them to justice, with the aim of increasing the sense of security in the public and eradicating the perpetrators of crime among the younger generation," the police statement said.
