Despite a well-oiled public relations machine and investments in the tens of millions: The IDF did not authorize the Hasmonean Brigade to open two companies in the upcoming recruitment.
According to a report this evening (Wednesday) by Yaakov Hershkowitz in Israel Hayom, in order to present a significant recruitment volume, the Hasmonean Brigade attempted to open two companies in the upcoming recruitment.
The brigade was organized with two company commanders and two company teams, even though in practice it was already known that the expected number of recruits was not enough to staff two companies. However, in light of the lower-than-expected recruitment figures, it was ultimately decided to open the upcoming recruitment with only one company.
According to the report, the IDF received data indicating that only about 100 soldiers are expected to be recruited into the Hasmonean Brigade, and therefore decided not to allow the opening of the two companies.
The IDF did not respond.
