Turmoil in the political system: In a post in Arabic that he published this morning (Wednesday) on his Arabic-language account, Ra'am Chairman Mansour Abbas explains his positions and worldview regarding the core issues of the State of Israel - this after he was criticized in the Arab sector following an interview in which he stated that today he would not repeat the statement that "Zionist gangs occupied Palestine.".
In a post he published, Abbas wrote that he recognizes the "Palestinian disaster," as he put it.
""The claim that I deny the Nakba, the displacement, and the Palestinian narrative is another plot. When right-wingers confront me with my statements from the past that actually indicate the credibility of my belonging, identity, and narrative, and I say that today, and especially since we presented the partnership and influence approach in recent years, I formulate my statements, ideas, and political approach differently, this does not mean that I deny the Nakba, the displacement, or the Palestinian narrative.".
Abbas added, wondering: "Isn't it possible that a different formulation and a different political approach would express the truth of the Nakba, learn from historical experience in an accurate and wise way, and present a practical vision for the future? Isn't it possible to acquire an influential capacity that will allow us to deal with the injustices and wounds we inherited from our ongoing Nakba, prevent new displacement in its various forms, and step outside the historical narrative to write the narrative of the future we hope for?".
Abbas then specifically addressed the nature of the state. "The Jewishness of the state is an existing situation that was imposed on us, and we did not choose it. It is the choice of the Jewish majority, not our demand. The Arab parties were forced to accept this from a practical point of view, otherwise they could be disqualified from running in the Knesset and local elections," he emphasized.
""On the other hand, our demand, approach and priorities are to focus on strengthening our status and achieving our national and civil rights, and to realize our political role within the government, and not to get away with parliamentary representation in the opposition alone. We must act to achieve our interests and ward off harm to our society and our people. Our position regarding the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and recognition of a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel is well-known and recognized.".
Chairman of the Religious Zionist Party, Minister Bezalel Smotrich', claimed that Abbas's words were a cover for incitement. "For years I have been warning against Mansour Abbas's 'taqiyya' (concealment) method. This is a fundamental element of the Muslim Brotherhood's method: hiding the real goal, gaining power, and using it for the real goal - jihad and eliminating the 'infidels' with an emphasis on the Jews and the State of Israel.".
Smotrich added: "Mansour Abbas is a dangerous enemy - a wolf in sheep's clothing. The fact that Eisenkot and the left are still striving to form a government with him is a dangerous eclipse. I am proud of my stance against forming a government with him, when even in the national camp there were those who got confused and followed his lip service, as well as of leading a determined opposition that brought down the left's Muslim Brotherhood government.".
""I pledge to do everything so that the State of Israel will never be sold to its enemies or become dependent on them.""
Party Jewish Power She responded: "Bennett and Eisenkot's senior partner in the government admits that he does not recognize the State of Israel as a Jewish state. I would tell you that his words are delusional, but I am not surprised. He is from the Muslim Brotherhood. The delusion is that Eisenkot and Bennett dream every night about how they will form a government with him.".
""Eisenkot and Bennett will let Mansour take over the Ministry of National Security. They will let him stop the demolitions of houses in the Negev, the enforcement of the muezzin's noise, close the protection and polygamy departments established by Minister Ben Gvir, and turn the Galilee and the Negev into Hamastan.".
""This is the goal of Abbas and his friends, Bennett and Eisenkot. Following the words he published this morning, we will submit a demand to disqualify Mansour Abbas from running for the Knesset.".
prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu He responded: "Eizenkot cannot have a government without Yair Golan and the Arab parties.".
Ofer Winter, The head of the 'Amach Yisrael' party, in response: "Anyone who does not recognize the State of Israel as a Jewish state can go to any Arab country they want. And it is certainly forbidden for such a person to be elected to the Israeli Knesset. The time has come to internalize - what was - will not be.".
Chairman of the Unity Party, Gilad Erdan"Abbas is working with the electoral committee in his eyes, working with the public in his eyes, and there are those who fall into his trap. He doesn't want a Jewish state here, he wants an Islamic caliphate. Only a broad unity government will ensure a Zionist government, without Abbas and without Labor in his eyes.".
MK Tali Gottlieb: ""Mansour Abbas is a real enemy of Israel. He said today in Arabic that he was forced to recognize a Jewish state just to avoid being disqualified from the Knesset! Do you get it? An enemy of the Jewish state in the Israeli Knesset.".
""As befits a representative of the terrorist organization Muslim Brotherhood, he will sacrifice any lie to take over the Knesset, the country, and ultimately establish Sharia. This is Abbas' dangerous vision that undermines our existence. Such a party must not be allowed to run for the Knesset. It must not be allowed!""
