Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir conducted a sector tour of the Gaza Strip today (Tuesday) with Southern Command Commander Major General Yaniv Asor, Gaza Division Commander Brigadier General Liron Batitto, and the brigade and battalion commanders.

During the tour, the Chief of Staff held a discussion with the commanders of the brigades and battalions in the Gaza Strip. The commanders reviewed with him the operational situation and the activities of the forces in the area. The Chief of Staff expressed his appreciation for the fighters and commanders operating in the Gaza Strip to protect the residents of the State of Israel.

Zamir: "In about a month and a half, we will mark three years since October 7. Three years in which the IDF is dealing with a multi-scene, complex and continuous campaign - in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon, Syria, Iran and other arenas.".

""This is a very big challenge for the IDF, and we have extraordinary achievements in all arenas and in all sectors. Our forces won all battles, we significantly weakened all our enemies, we damaged their capabilities and infrastructure. We continue to prepare and be alert in all arenas with the understanding that the campaign is not over.".

He added: "In Gaza, we are not giving up on the ultimate goal - the demilitarization of the Strip and the disarmament of Hamas, by all means necessary. We continue to act systematically to continuously harm Hamas and its leaders everywhere - including a continuous campaign to prevent its strengthening.".

Zamir emphasized: "The pursuit of the October 7 terrorists continues - everyone who took part in the massacre will live in persecution until they are eliminated. This is a long-term mission to which the command and the entire IDF are committed.".

""Our message is clear: we have investigated and we are drawing lessons - the IDF will not return to perceptions like we experienced on October 6. There is no containment of threats. We will not allow the enemy to rebuild itself, we will not allow terrorist infrastructures to take hold, and we will act at every opportunity to eliminate threats as they arise.".

In light of the kites being launched from Gaza, he said: "We are attentive to the voices of the residents, understand their concerns, and will know how to reach anyone who is behind a threat to them. We are prepared with our forces on the front line in front of the communities and continue to thwart terror infrastructures and terrorists.".

Zamir also referred to the transfer of forces between the various sectors: "The last time I met the commanders of the Givati Brigade and the 401st Brigade, it was on the northern border of the country, only about three months ago. Now you are here and continue to deepen the achievements in the Gaza Strip. The Southern Command and the division continue to thwart threats accurately and at every opportunity. There are tremendous achievements here that are based on the determined and uncompromising activity of the forces in the field. I am also not meeting the reserve battalion of the 11th Brigade for the first time. The battalion is being mobilized in this round for 90 days, I am aware of the exceptional difficulty on the reserve personnel and their families. We are committed to continuing to act on your behalf.".
