MK Tali Gottlieb of the Likud joined today (Tuesday) the right-wing attack against Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Winter - in preparation for the establishment of a party headed by him.
Gottlieb praised Winter's military background, but argued that his independent run could harm the right-wing camp.
Gottlieb wrote in a post she published on her X account: "Ofer Winter, don't be upset, but you are not the Messiah. You are a great military man, fearless, and understand the battlefield, but from here to the coming of our righteous Messiah there is a long way to go.".
She said she does not accept the claim that a party led by Winter will strengthen the right. "You will not convince me that you came to save the right-wing camp, or to strengthen the right-wing camp.".
Gottlieb added, claiming: "In the days when we are fighting to strengthen the existing parties in order to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state under the auspices of Eisenkot, Golan, and Abbas, you are a tool in the hands of the left. They will glorify you, tell you that you have electoral power, and encourage you to continue without blinking.".
According to her, "They did it to Gantz, who disappeared, to Bennett, the crook who weakened, and they are doing it to Eizenkot. You are their pet right-winger. They will use you to weaken the right.".
Gottlieb later separated her assessment of Winter's military abilities from his suitability, in her opinion, for political leadership. "You are a soloist, you are an excellent commander, but you are only a human being and you will not save the people of Israel in the political field.".
Gottlieb estimated that Winter could get a seat in one of the existing parties. "I suppose you'll get a seat in one of the existing parties if you look in the mirror and remember who you are.".
She concluded with another personal attack, "You are no one's headache. You are only the pain in the dictates of your conscience at this time. And in the building of Zion we will find comfort.".
