United States President Donald Trump claimed today (Tuesday) that the Islamic Republic is in the process of collapse.
In a post he published on his social media, the president wrote: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, which is in the process of collapse, is not paying large parts of its military personnel.".
He said that at the same time, the Iranian regime continues to kill protesters, "even when they are not protesting, and at levels never seen before.".
The president emphasized: "This is a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions, and it must be stopped.".
Yesterday, the president briefly tweeted: "Iran is completely collapsing!".
Earlier that day, he shared a post in which the speaker of the Iranian parliament was quoted as saying: "We are hungry, we cannot survive.".
Trump's messages were released in parallel with the economic measures announced by the United States against Iran. US Treasury Secretary Scott Basnet announced the beginning of what he described as the final phase of the economic campaign against Tehran. "At dawn, economic D-Day will begin - the largest financial attack ever against an adversary," Basnet wrote.
He explained that the goal of the move is to "cut off every economic lifeline that sustains the tyrannical regime until Tehran stands alone.".
