A package containing a suspected dangerous substance was received today (Tuesday) at a post office in the city of Modi'in Illit.
Firefighters from the Binyamin Regional Station, alongside the Hazardous Materials Handling Unit, who were called to the scene, collected the hazardous materials at the post office in the city of Modi'in Illit.
Upon the arrival of the teams at the branch, firefighters worked to isolate the scene and treat the hazardous materials.
The forces that entered to handle the package reported that it involved two different substances - hydrogen peroxide and another type of acid - one of which was leaking from the container in which it was shipped - and together they created a toxic reaction following the combination of the two substances.
According to the instructions of the Judea and Samaria District's risk assessment officer, the materials were collected into a special sealed bag, and the leaked material was also absorbed and collected.
Reshef Oz Baba, Deputy Commander of the Binyamin Regional Station Shift: "There was real concern about the development of the incident, following the sending of two containers containing different types of materials. The incident was handled strictly according to the procedures for handling hazardous materials, following the reaction between the two materials.
""The crews finished handling the materials, and the incident ended without any casualties.""
