MK Yitzhak Goldknopf, representative of Gur Hasidism in the Agudath Israel party, received the blessing of the Gur Rebbe - and will continue to serve as a representative in the next Knesset.
The newspaper "Hamodia," a Gur Hasidic publication, noted that Goldknopf was "one of the best of Agudath Yisrael's businessmen and activists for many years.".
Goldknopf referred to the past term and stated that "it was difficult for the Haredi public and is not remembered as much as in the past, despite the 'full right-wing' government." According to him, "Torah scholars are subject to a very cruel campaign of persecution.".
He later referred to his conduct during the term: "I acted throughout in complete obedience to what the great men of Israel instructed. I immediately resigned from my position in the government and the coalition according to their instructions.".
Goldknopf added: "We are all pained by the situation and regret that it has arisen this way in our time. We must draw lessons from what happened.".
Referring to the continuation, he said: "Working together with all representatives of Torah Judaism, we will strive to make amends. We will work to elevate the name of Heaven and its people to guard the holy places of Israel.".
