Dialogue channel between Jerusalem and Damascus: Mossad head Roman Gofman met today (Sunday) with Syrian Foreign Minister Asad al-Sheibani.
According to a report on the Axios website, the meeting was intended to lead to a reduction in tensions and calm between the two countries.
The dramatic conversation between the two took place just days after the Air Force attacked the Abu a-Duhur military base in Syria, a move that led to a sharp escalation between the sides.
A source familiar with the details said that the meeting between the two was good and that they agreed to continue talking in order to get security talks between the parties back on track.
The Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem declined to provide an official response to the report. A spokesman for Syrian Foreign Minister Al-Shaibani did not respond.
