Jonathan Pollard announced this morning (Sunday) that he has joined the Israel First party, led by MK Sharan Haskel - and that he supports it ahead of the upcoming elections.

The announcement was made in a joint statement near the Western Wall in Jerusalem.

Pollard, who declared in June his intention to enter political life, said that he believes in the power of reason and its path, and explained that he chose to support the party because, according to him, it represents a Zionist and nationalist leadership that places Israel's security at the top of the list of priorities and does not apologize for the Jewish nature of the country.

The party's chairwoman, MK Sharan Haskel, welcomed his joining and said that this is a significant reinforcement of 'Israel First'.

She said that the trust he expressed in her was a great privilege and responsibility, and emphasized that the party would work to strengthen security, settlement, and Jerusalem.

Lt. Col. (res.) Roy Danino also commented on Pollard's joining, saying that it is a significant reinforcement of a Zionist and national path that places Israel's security and future at the top of the priority list.

Sharan Haskel resigned from her position as Deputy Foreign Minister in July 2026, according to her, following the approval of the law freezing arrests for ultra-Orthodox "evaders.".
