The terrorist organization Hamas recognizes an erosion of support among the residents of the Gaza Strip and fears losing its grip on the population - and against this background, it is increasing the activity of its security mechanisms and trying to impose its rule through intimidation, interrogations, and torture of the residents.
Now, intelligence information can be revealed that Hamas is exploiting the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis and carrying out torture and interrogations in its wings.
According to information in the Shin Bet's possession, in the 'Yassin' building, on the second floor of the hospital's outpatient clinics, interrogations by Hamas' internal security and military intelligence are taking place. Furthermore, Hamas exploits the hospital as a center of power, regardless of their medical function, for the purpose of interrogations, torture, and extortion.
According to a statement from the IDF and Shin Bet, the Nasser Hospital continues to serve as a central military infrastructure for Hamas in the southern Gaza Strip.
Patients and hospital staff are witnessing the constant presence of Hamas terrorists, some of whom are masked, in various areas of the hospital compound.
""Hamas' use of the hospital creates fear, harms patients, service providers, and medical staff. Additional investigations are currently being conducted in a building that was previously used as offices at the hospital, then as a cafeteria, later converted into a house of prayer, and is currently used as a Hamas interrogation center," the statement said.
The Shin Bet and the IDF added: "Exploitation of civilian infrastructure for the benefit of interrogations and torture is a widespread phenomenon in the Hamas terrorist organization. These actions by the Hamas terrorist organization constitute a violation of international law, which prohibits military use of hospitals.".
