According to data published today (Friday) by the Central Bureau of Statistics, the consumer price index rose by 0.31% in July.

As a result, annual inflation moderated from 1.6% to 1.5%.

Notable price increases were recorded in July in the transportation categories - which rose by 1.4%, culture and entertainment - which rose by 1.1%, and housing - which rose by 0.7%.

Notable price declines were recorded in the clothing and footwear categories, which fell by 4.6%, fresh vegetables and fruits - which fell by 3.5%, furniture and home equipment which fell by 0.7%, and miscellaneous which fell by 0.4%.

Rent for tenants who renewed their leases increased by 2.6%. For new tenants, there was an increase of 4.7%. These rates of change reflect an approximation of the annual rate of change in rent in these groups. This is because rent has not changed for the vast majority of tenants over the past year, due to their being under a lease in which the monthly rent is determined, often without linkage mechanisms.

Apartment prices increased by 0.11% in May-June compared to April-May.

By district - prices increased by 1.8% in the Jerusalem District, by 1.5% in the Haifa District, by 0.9% in the Northern District, and by 0.7% in the Southern District. Prices decreased by 0.7% in the Tel Aviv District and by 1% in the Central District. On an annual basis, apartment prices decreased by 1.5% between May-June 2025 and May-June this year.
