Against the backdrop of the recent clashes between Tax Authority officials and Haredim in Bnei Brak, a slightly different spectacle stood out this evening (Saturday night): Tax Authority Chairman Shai Aharonovitch participated in a havdela in Romania and celebrated with Haredim.
Aharonovich was seen dancing to the sounds of Hasidic music together with Haredi guests who were staying at the same place.
The meeting takes on a particularly interesting significance in light of the recent tensions surrounding the activities of the Tax Authority in Bnei Brak, and in particular after the shameful attacks on the authority's employees - and Aharonovitch's decision to halt the handling of the damages of the wars with Iran in the city of the Torah and Hasidism, until there is a public condemnation of the violence.
Alongside the disputes and debates, a more encouraging picture was presented this evening in Poiana, Romania: the chairman of the Tax Authority alongside the Haredi in a particularly uplifting musical havdalah.
Participants in the event told Haredim 10: "Sometimes, precisely around the Shabbat table and during the Havdalah ceremony, one can discover that even if there are disagreements, there is still room for encounter and connection.".
