An exciting sighting was recorded this morning (Friday) in Bar'am National Park in the Upper Galilee: Nature and Parks Authority employees had an unusual encounter with the opening of the site – a pair of donkeys that came to visit near the ancient synagogue building.

The baboons, which were observed peacefully patrolling the site, likely came from the nearby nature reserve.

The Merom Galilee region is characterized by a unique climate and an extraordinary wealth of flora and fauna, and is a critical habitat for a variety of rare species - many of which are in danger of extinction.

The sight of the noble wildlife alongside the remains of the magnificent synagogue from Talmudic times created a spectacular mosaic that combines wild nature with local history and heritage.

The Nature and Parks Authority invites the general public to come, hike, and enjoy the Galilee landscapes, the heritage stories, and the fascinating biodiversity of the region.
