Baruch Dayan, the truth teller: The Rebbe of Beit Shmuel Zvi Spinka, Rabbi Yosef Meir Horowitz, passed away in New York tonight (Thursday), at the age of 59, after a serious illness.
The Rebbe passed away at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, in the presence of his family and father-in-law, the Rebbe of Kretshnif, who came especially to the United States.
The Rebbe, zt"l, was born to his father, the Rebbe of Beit Shmuel Zvi Spinka, Rabbi Yissachar Dov Berish Horowitz zt"l, the eldest son of the Rebbe, Rabbi Shmuel Zvi Horowitz zt"l, author of the book 'Tiferet Zvi', and grandson of the author of 'Hakel Yitzchak' of Spinka. His mother, Rebbetzin Bluma Sara, is the daughter of the late Rabbi Eliezer Meislich zt"l, Av Beit Din of Eyhal.
When he reached his prime, he married the daughter of the Rebbe of Kretshnif. The wedding took place in 1987 in the United States, where his father-in-law arrived with a large group of Hasidic Jews.
He stood by his father's side in establishing and establishing Hasidic institutions in the United States, and after his father's death in 1968, he was crowned his successor.
The Rebbe headed the Beit Midrash and the Beit Shmuel Zvi Spinka institutions in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn, which are named after his grandfather, the late Rebbe.
The Beit Midrash became a tower of light of Torah, Hasidism, and kindness, to which hundreds of Hasidic Jews, Abrechim, and young men flocked.
The Rebbe worked hard to publish the Torah books of his ancestors for the Spinka family and passed on the legacy of Hasidism.
In the last year, he fell ill, weakened, and was in severe agony.
He left behind a blessed generation of righteous people, sons and daughters, sons-in-law and descendants who continue his path.
His sons: Rabbi David Moshe Horowitz, son-in-law of Rabbi Israel Yosef Kahn, son of the Rebbe of Tolodot Aharon, Rabbi Yoel, son-in-law of the Rebbe of Sasow, and Rabbi Shmuel Zvi, grandson of the Rebbe of Chernovitz.
His sons-in-law: Rabbi Berel Rosenbaum, son of the Rebbe of Mashlev, Rabbi Yochanan Hager, son of the Rebbe of Vizhnitz Borough Park, and a daughter who has not yet been married.
The funeral procession left from his seminary in the Williamsburg neighborhood.
