The Likud responded this evening (Wednesday) with a harsh attack against Yisrael Beiteinu chairman, MK Avigdor Lieberman, after he claimed that the IDF had actually withdrawn from the "Yellow Line", that the political echelon prevented the thwarting of dozens of Nuhba terrorists - and that the Prime Minister had approved summaries concerning the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars in accordance with Hamas lists.

""Avigdor Lieberman is knowingly lying, harming the security of the State of Israel and revealing his ignorance of operational military aspects.

Here are the facts that refute Lieberman's entire false image:

  1. The claim that the Prime Minister allegedly approved summaries between the Director General of the Peace Council and Hamas is a lie. This was even denied by the Director General of the Peace Council. This is further evidence of Lieberman's level of credibility.
  2. The IDF did not withdraw from the Yellow Line, and no change was made to the deployment of IDF forces in the Strip. As Prime Minister Netanyahu said, the IDF will not make any withdrawal until Hamas disarms in the entire Strip.
The IDF will remain responsible for Israel's security and will operate in all areas of the Gaza Strip as required.
  3. Contrary to Liberman's claim, the political echelon explicitly instructed the IDF to thwart any threat to our forces. As the IDF spokesman published on August 10: "The opening fire instructions allow fighters to thwart any immediate threat to the forces and there is no change in them," as happened just yesterday when the IDF thwarted a Hamas sniper and today when it thwarted a terrorist in Beit Lahiya who was planning to attack our forces.
  4. The CENTCOM commander's visit to the American base in the south where American forces are stationed reflects full and deep cooperation between the IDF and the US military.

Because Lieberman is still under the influence of collaboration with Mansour Abbas, which forced him to obtain approval for every action from the Shura Council, he is discrediting real strategic cooperation between Israel and the US against Iran in order to divert attention from his collaboration with Muslim Brotherhood representatives in the previous government.

""Unlike Lieberman, Prime Minister Netanyahu pledges that as long as he is Prime Minister, there will be no withdrawal from the Gaza Strip before the complete dismantling of Hamas in the entire Strip and no Palestinian state will be established, neither in Judea and Samaria nor in Gaza.".

""In contrast, it is clear that Lieberman will rejoin the left-wing government that will be dependent on Yair Golan and the Arab parties and that will withdraw from the Gaza Strip and establish a Palestinian state there and in Judea and Samaria.".

At the same time, the IDF spokesman also issued an official statement clarifying the military's position regarding the events.

""On Tuesday night, information was received about terrorist training in the Gaza Strip. After assessing the situation, it was decided to improve the collection and counter-terrorism preparedness. No terrorists or organization were identified in the collection methods at any stage. There is no change in the opening fire instructions that require every IDF soldier to remove any immediate threat. Likewise, there is no change in the deployment of forces in the sector or in control of the Yellow Line.".

Earlier today, Lieberman claimed: "Today I visited the 'Gaza envelope', in Kerem Shalom, the new American base being built near the crossing and intended to absorb the international force that is expected to be deployed in the Strip and help Hamas rebuild - and in Bari, where I met with the military police.

""What I saw and heard is very worrying, and I want to share with the members of the political and security cabinet some details that the prime minister is hiding from them and from the public.".

Lieberman explained:

• The Prime Minister approved an agreement between the Director General of the Peace Council, Nikolai Mladenov, and Hamas, according to which the 'Peace Council' will transfer $400 million to suppliers and service providers in accordance with Hamas' lists. In addition, there is an agreement between Hamas and those suppliers and service providers that approximately $40% of that $400 million, i.e. $160 million, will be returned in cash to Hamas' military wing.

• The withdrawal of IDF forces has been practically completed. IDF forces have withdrawn to the line of posts, and in the entire space between the line of posts - the purple line, and the yellow concrete blocks - the yellow line, not a single soldier remains. The directive from the political echelon not to evacuate the yellow concrete blocks is a smokescreen for political purposes. In practice, there is not a single soldier beyond the line of posts, and the entire space between the line of posts and the yellow line is empty of IDF presence.

• Last night, IDF forces identified a training exercise by about 50 terrorists from the Nuhba force who were practicing a raid and occupation of a Jewish settlement. IDF commanders in the field sought to act immediately to target all the terrorists, but the directive from the political echelon was: "You don't touch anyone, don't even fire a single bullet.".

This is a surrender to terrorism, and a return to the policy of containment and containment that led to October 7th.

• When the CENTCOM commander visits the American base in the south, it means that Netanyahu has given up the ability to make security decisions independently, and even to move a pin, American approval is required.

It should be noted that the Director General of the Gaza Peace Council, Nikolai Mladenov, denied today the publication that as part of the agreement in the Gaza Strip, Hamas' debts will be covered up to the amount of $400 million. "The claims regarding a financial agreement between the council and Hamas are false. Such a proposal was not discussed, was not negotiated, was not considered, and will not be on the agenda in the future," Mladenov tweeted in Hebrew.
