Officials in one of the countries in the region recommended that officials in another country adopt a line of tactical flexibility and reach an agreement with Israel - with the aim of "putting it to sleep" while preparations are made for a large-scale military campaign.
It was revealed on Network B that during the talks between the parties, the same sources suggested that their allies reach an agreement with Israel in order to violate it at a later stage, while continuing the parallel preparations for warlike moves.
One of the countries is one whose name frequently comes up as a candidate to join the 'Abraham Accords' with the enthusiastic support of US President Donald Trump.
This approach is consistent with the pattern of action adopted by Yahya Sinwar, who created in Israel the impression of a willingness to accept silence in exchange for silence, while he was busy planning the October 7 terrorist attack.
This raises a particularly troubling question: Similar to what Israel experienced with Hamas before October 7, is Israel once again convincing itself in this case about the willingness of the countries in the region to move towards normalization with Israel? Or in other words, is Israel once again suffering from a misconception.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir responded to the revelation: "Anyone who thought we could entrust the security of our children to agreements and guarantees from our environment received a painful slap this morning: Behind all these conceptual agreements stand lies and deceit. These are agreements whose purpose is to lull us into sleep in preparation for the next blow. It is precisely for this reason that we stood and cried out before October 7, it is precisely for this reason that we opposed every reckless deal and every attempt to sell us the illusion of peace.".
He added: "The only answer to our enemies and those who seek our harm is strength, determination and absolute decisiveness - without agreements and without mercy. Hamas and Hezbollah must be destroyed to the last of them, without blinking and without stopping.".
""Israel's security will be built solely by the Jewish Defense Force, armed citizens, a strong police force and an offensive IDF. I will continue to fight for the security of the state with open eyes and determination.".
