
Summer vacation causes the public to go wild with spending: Data published this morning (Thursday) by the Sheba - Automated Banking Services company - indicates that spending on debit cards in July 2026 reached a record amount of 54.857 billion shekels.
This is an increase of 5.81% compared to July last year.
The average daily spending on debit cards broke a new record and stood at 1.771 billion shekels - an increase of 3.11% compared to June 2026, which stood at 1.718 billion.
The average daily purchases in online transactions in July 2026 were 1.031 billion shekels, and the average daily purchases in physical transactions were 740.052 million shekels.
It also appears that the volume of cash withdrawals from bank ATMs is the highest since August 2023.
July 2026 is the second month in a row in which the average daily spending is higher than the 1.7 billion shekel mark.
The spending figure for July 2026 represents an increase of over 2.995 billion shekels and 5.81% compared to July 2025, when the amount of spending reached 51.862 billion shekels.
The Sheba Company notes that the data for July 2025 was considered particularly high and was affected by the fact that in June 2025, Operation 'Am Kalavi' was conducted against Iran and there were restrictions on economic activity.
