Britain vs. the yeshiva world: The British government announced the opening of an investigation against donors who are citizens of the country and who transferred funds to yeshivas and Haredi schools operating beyond the 'Green Line' - in the cities of Beitar Illit and Modi'in Illit.
According to a report this evening (Wednesday) by Ari Kalman on the i24 channel, the decision was made against the backdrop of British recognition of a Palestinian state and a policy prohibiting assistance for settlement activity.
A number of British donors who donated to kolelu yeshivahs and charitable organizations located, among other places, in ultra-Orthodox cities in Judea and Samaria, have already received official notices of the opening of an investigation against them.
Following this development, the Association of Yeshiva and Seminaries, where students from abroad study, urgently appealed today to Ministers Gideon Sa'ar, Yoav Kish, and Amichai Shikli, demanding immediate government intervention.
The union warns that the expansion of the investigations could harm the fundraising system and the financing of yeshiva meetings throughout the country.
