Will he steal seats from Shas? Former Shas chairman Eli Yishai is currently exploring a political alliance with the Haredi Public Party, headed by Moti Leitner, in a move that could shake up the Haredi political system - and create a new alternative for Haredi voters.
According to a report by Eli Hirshman on Channel 12, Yishai and members of the new party have recently held several meetings, during which the possibility of running together in the upcoming elections is being examined.
In the party, which defines itself as the representative of working ultra-Orthodox Jews.
Eli Yishai headed Shas for 14 years - until Deri's return and his removal from the party leadership.
After retiring, he founded the Yahad party with Baruch Marzel in 2014. Although the list received about 125,000 votes, it did not pass the electoral threshold.
