Sanz yeshivot in Kiryat Sanz Netanya and Haifa opened the 'Time of Elul', preempting the world of yeshivots that is still in the 'times between'.
Hundreds of Sanz Hasidic youth began the special study order yesterday, with the opening of this year's season marked by renewal and expansion of the boundaries of holiness.
Due to extensive and intensive renovation work currently taking place in the main yeshiva building, the yeshiva's temporary residence has been moved to the large hall - the Rosenberg Hall. The inauguration of the renovated "Hametivta" building is expected to be completed in the coming days, and then the yeshiva's students will return to their permanent hall.
The yeshiva halls in Kiryat Sanz have been a beacon of Torah and labor for years. The decision to open earlier reflects the unique Sanzian character, which places Torah at the top of the priority list, without compromise.
For the boys, the transition from the 'between-times' vacation to the yeshiva routine is a personal 'leap forward', as they recommit to diligence and perseverance.
Photographer Moshe Goldstein, moved by the special occasion and his longing for the smell of fresh produce, went down to Netanya to document the moments of the opening of time.
The young men, after acclimating to the boarding school rooms and memorizing the yeshiva regulations that emphasize the paved path to success in Torah and fear of God, gathered for a special study session, during which the yeshiva halls were filled with the powerful sound of Torah.
The opening was centered on the speech of the Rosh Yeshiva, the tzaddik Rabbi Yosef Moshe Dov Halberstam, Rosh Yeshivot Sanz and Av Beit Din of Sanz, USA.
His words, which combine pure reverence for God with a demand for greatness in the Torah, instilled in the hearts of the young men the strength needed to open the time. The head of the yeshiva appealed to them for blessings and spiritual guidance, and emphasized to them the great responsibility placed upon them as children of the Torah who continue the holy chain.
