On the occasion of Tu B'Av: 15 years after the album series that became a milestone in the world of Hasidic music was launched, master arranger Moshe Laufer and producer Levik Tobol are doing it again - and are launching "Moshe Laufer Plays Chabad 6": the sixth installment in the prestigious series, which gives the treasure trove of Chabad melodies a rich and up-to-date musical appearance, while carefully preserving its spirit and originality.
History repeats itself: The five previous albums in the "Moshe Laufer Plays Chabad" series left their mark on the world of Jewish and Hasidic music. They sold tens of thousands of copies, entered homes, gatherings, and joyous halls, and tunes from them have become an integral part of the Hasidic joyous soundtrack over the years.
Now, on the occasion of Tu B'Av, the sixth episode arrives.
In "Moshe Laufer Plays Chabad 6," Laufer and Tobul continue a journey that began 15 years ago, with a careful selection from the treasury of Chabad Hasidic tunes - familiar and beloved tunes alongside gems that are being rediscovered. In Moshe Laufer's hands, each tune receives a new orchestral interpretation, while maintaining its character and the tradition from which it emerged.
The album features Chabad singers Eli Marcus and Mandi Jurofi, along with Yoni Shlomo and Baruch Shalom Belsofsky, who lend their voices and style to the various performances on the album.
In selecting the choir, special emphasis was placed on faithfulness to the original and accuracy in the performance of the melodies. For this purpose, the Chabad Choir "A Kapele" was chosen, whose members are familiar with and live the world of Chabad melodies.
The choir was recorded in New York under the direction of musician Yossi Cohen, while paying close attention to the pronunciation, nuances, and unique character of each melody.
The album's mixes were handled by Mandy Friedman and Aviv Yirimi, who gave Lauper's arrangements depth, space, and power.
The final stamp was placed in the hands of Eli Lisinsky, one of the senior sound engineers, who, through the mastering process, gave the album its shine and final finish – and brought the musical production to its peak.
