While thousands of Breslov Hasidim have already begun preparations for the great journey to the grave of Rabbi Nachman in Uman - to spend Rosh Hashanah 5777 near Zion, behind the scenes, intensive and world-wide activity is underway by representatives of the 'Breslov Union' with governments, embassies, law enforcement authorities and transportation agencies - with a clear goal: to ensure the proper existence of the Breslov Hasidim gathering in Uman and to arrange the safe passage of the masses.
In recent days, the chairman of the Breslov Union, Rabbi Natan Ben Nun, met with the Romanian Ambassador to Israel, Radu Ioannid, and with Deputy Ambassador Adrian Simon. The two are responsible on behalf of the Romanian government for managing the transit of travelers making their way through their country, on their overland route to Ukraine.
During the important meeting, comprehensive and fundamental coordination was conducted in preparation for the expected mass pilgrimage during Rosh Hashanah. The parties closely examined ways of cooperation, with the aim of enabling an orderly, efficient and safe border crossing for the Hasidim who are expected to crowd the crossings in Romania.
The Breslav Union notes that this meeting constitutes another layer in a broad array of extensive working relationships that the organization maintains with governments and official bodies in Israel and around the world. Throughout the year, the Union works to promote rapid solutions in the areas of transportation, security, border infrastructure and logistics, with the understanding that given the constraints of the period, early preparation and close international cooperation are essential threshold conditions for the success of the kibbutz.
Rabbi Nathan Ben Nun, chairman of the Breslov Union, noted that as Rosh Hashanah approaches, activity with all the authorities and involved parties is expanding. "The goal before us is to ensure that the mass immigration to Uman is conducted in the best possible manner. We are doing everything to enable the tens of thousands of worshippers, from all over the world, to arrive in Uman safely and participate in Rosh Hashanah prayers in the settlement of knowledge.".
The organization emphasizes that continuous activity with all relevant parties will continue with greater intensity in the near future, as part of the heavy responsibility that the 'Breslav Union' has been leading for years in managing the kibbutz in Uman, and out of a deep commitment to the welfare of the traveling public who immigrate to Umana.
