A shocking attack in the Crown Heights neighborhood: A young Chabad follower was brutally attacked at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon inside her home, after a man posing as an employee of the electric company 'Con Edison' rang the doorbell.
When the woman opened the door, a large man burst in, brandished a gun and began to choke her.
The attack occurred shortly after the victim's husband left the house. Her cries for help were captured on the home camera, through which her husband, who was only about two blocks away from their home, heard the incident live.
He rushed to the family home, confronted the burglar, and during a stubborn struggle managed to wrest the gun from his hands and even hit him in the head.
The woman fled the house with the baby, while her husband continued to fight the suspect before he also managed to escape.
Volunteers from the "Watchmen" organization who were called to the scene immediately began a pursuit of the suspect, located him in a park in the Canarsie neighborhood, and led to his arrest by New York City police officers.
According to reports, the gun, rope, along with the victim's phone and wallet were found in his possession. The husband identified him with certainty.
According to the "Guards", the suspect has an extensive criminal record along with 10 previous arrests for criminal offenses.
The woman was taken to a hospital suffering from signs of strangulation in her neck.
The police collected evidence from the scene and opened an investigation.
