Israel Airports Authority Director General Sharon Kedmi said today (Tuesday) in an interview on the Be' channel that Ben Gurion Airport will not be able to carry out all of the planned flights - if it is forced to receive additional American refueling planes.
""We are doing everything we can to avoid canceling flights," Kedmi stated. "There are American refuelers here and in other places. We are in contact with the Air Force and everyone is doing their part.".
He clarified: "We cannot allow even one more tanker into Ben Gurion Airport. If it does, we will start canceling flights. The public needs to prepare for cancellations and delays. We need to remember that this is a civilian airport.".
Despite the pressure to maintain routine at Ben Gurion Airport, Israeli security officials have made it clear that in the event of an escalation with Iran, "security needs will prevail over any other consideration.".
