Recently, similar videos have begun to appear on social networks Instagram and TikTok: a modest girl cleaning a synagogue under a caption that promises a marriage spell.
What led to the phenomenon?
According to a report on the Kippa website, Rabbi Yigal Cohen, and a number of rabbis like him, published a segula according to which cleaning a synagogue can bring the couple and the wedding closer.
""Every second you are with the mop, you bring your personal redemption closer," said Rabbi Cohen, head of the 'Yabia Ummar' institutions in Bnei Brak and head of the 'Anafim' organization for bringing together distant ones.
Rebbetzin Tony Akwa explained: "If you want to get married - go clean a synagogue. God says: You clean mine, I will clean you of all the delays.".
Following these calls, many young women began volunteering to clean synagogues free of charge, believing that the move would bring their marriage closer.
