A Jerusalem resident was brought before the city's Magistrate's Court today (Tuesday) and released under restrictive conditions, as part of an investigation conducted by the Jerusalem and Southern Investigations Tax Officer Unit at the Tax Authority.

The investigation reveals suspicions that the Jerusalemite and his wife own 9 apartments in Jerusalem, which were rented from 2016 to 2026 without the rental income being reported to the Tax Authority.

After the suspect requested relief from paying capital gains tax, as part of the sale of an apartment, he was asked by the Real Estate Taxation Office to produce documents.

An inspection by the tax authorities revealed that he did not report income from rental housing.

Following a request from the Real Estate Taxation Office, the suspect reported his income from apartment rental in the years 2022-2025, but did not report his income in the years 2016-2021.

As part of the investigation, searches were conducted at the suspect's home, documents were seized, and testimony was collected from him and his accountant.

The findings of the investigation so far indicate that the suspect did not report income in the amount of approximately 3.4 million shekels in the years 2016-2021.

The investigation continues.
