In a modest ceremony, attended by Channel 14 CEO Ariel Edri, presenters Boaz Golan and Shimon Riklin, reporters, producers and editors, a permanent 'tefillin stand' was installed today (Tuesday) at the entrance to the channel's offices.
The 3 pairs of tefillin - Sephardic and Ari - were placed by the brothers Mendy and Shlomo Rizel, both of whom also serve as regular panelists on the channel, and obtained the donation for tefillin at a cost of thousands of shekels.
Also participating in the event was Rabbi Menachem Michaelashvili, Chabad emissary in Lod, who works with the channel's employees throughout the year and is well known to its employees.
The first to put on the new tefillin was military correspondent Hillel Biton-Rozen, who blessed the IDF soldiers and security forces personnel.
On Boaz Golan's program, minutes before the event, Mendy Rizel said: "We are commemorating the podium in honor of the soul of our father, Yisrael Rizel, may his memory be blessed. When the Lubavitcher Rebbe came out in 1967 calling on his followers to put on tefillin for the Jews, it was for the soldiers' benefit, as it is written, 'And they will see that the name of the Lord is called upon you, and they will fear you.'".
Host Boaz Golan noted that the channel has a stand and a pair of tefillin placed in the synagogue, and under the direction of the CEO, the new pairs will be placed permanently in the entrance lobby, for the public of employees and guests who wish to do so, and in a place that will be visible to all.
The channel's management: "We are proud of tradition and Judaism and are grateful for this initiative.".
The Rizal brothers thanked the channel's management and the participants, as well as the partners for donating the stand and tefillin, which were intended to benefit the many.
