Avrech, a graduate of the 'Be'er Talmud' yeshiva, 22 years old, a resident of Netivot, was arrested at noon (Monday) at the Gilat intersection near the city of Ofakim - for desertion from military service.

The young man, within the first year of his marriage, was taken to the military police station in the city of HaBadim.

He is represented by the legal department of the 'Holy People' organization.

Crowds of ultra-Orthodox Jews rushed to the scene during the arrest, to prevent his arrest - but the attempt was unsuccessful. As a result, a stormy demonstration developed at the scene.

The police reported that police forces are operating at the Gilat Intersection - Highways 25 and 241 - to restore public order, after dozens of troublemakers arrived at the intersection, attempting to disrupt daily life and blocking traffic lanes.

""The driving public is asked to avoid arriving at the scene, choose alternative routes and obey the instructions of the police officers on site.".
