
Rachel Mendelsohn, a 3-month-old baby girl, from a Gur Hasidim family, was found unconscious yesterday morning in her home in Hatzor HaGlilit. Rescue forces called to the family's home evacuated her in critical condition to Ziv Hospital in Safed, where she was unfortunately pronounced dead.
At the family's request, ZAKA teams accompany and treat the difficult case.
Yaakov Steinmetz, head of the ZAKA Institute team: "Starting yesterday, the ZAKA team was asked to assist the family, after their toddler daughter, approximately 3 months old, was found lifeless. ZAKA teams worked together with the Ziv Hospital team and the local police, in close cooperation with the team of the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine and Assaf Harofeh Hospital, with the aim of releasing the baby's body. In accordance with the requirements of the Israel Police, the body was transferred to the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine, and immediately after the completion of the CT scans, her body was released for burial.".
Through the activities of the Gur Hasidic representative, Moti Babchik, and ZAKA Director General Zvi Hasid, together with the staff of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the baby was released this morning - Monday - for burial, and is being transported in a ZAKA ambulance to the Safed cemetery, where she will be buried.
Her funeral is at 2:00 p.m.
