The Instagram account 'Smiling Soldiers' posted a photo of Rabbi Liraz Zeira, a Chabad emissary to colleges in Jerusalem, who was seriously injured in Syria more than six months ago - placing tefillin on a Jew on the street.
The special photo was taken by photographer Menachem Geisinski - who captured the moment near the Chabad house run by Rabbi Zeira.
Alongside the photo, a post was published that sparked great excitement online: "Even after losing both of his legs in a landmine explosion in southern Syria while serving as a major in the IDF reserves, Rabbi Liraz Zeira refuses to surrender to the darkness. As a dedicated Chabad rabbi on the college campus in Jerusalem, he continues to encourage students, spread joy, Torah, and Hasidic warmth to all around him.".

Retired Major Rabbi Liraz Zeira, 42, was seriously injured by a landmine explosion in southern Syria and lost both of his legs - after hundreds of days of reserve duty in the war.
He underwent a long rehabilitation process - and throughout it all he continued his missionary work, to which he returned a few months ago full-time.
