Yeshiva head Rabbi Hirsch, who froze the promotion of the 'Conscription Law', has withdrawn his opposition, after delaying the move for many weeks.

According to a report by Eli Hirshman on Channel 12, the Haredi factions are pushing for legislation before the elections.

However, those close to the yeshiva's head said this evening: "This is a tactical removal of opposition. The rabbi Hirsch still believes that the law is neither good nor bad for the Torah world.".

""But after much pressure from the ultra-Orthodox MKs who claimed that if the conscription law does not pass - they will not vote for the ultra-Orthodox parties, and donors said that if the ultra-Orthodox side opposes the conscription law - then we will stop donations to the 'World Torah Fund', Rabbi Hirsch said: 'I am removing the objection. Go to the Rabbi Landau and if he approves - move forward with the law.'".

""It's just that all of this happened a few days ago, and we haven't heard that the objection has been lifted by Rabbi Lando...""

Earlier today, the office of Degel Hatorah chairman MK Moshe Gafni issued a denial of a report that Prime Minister Netanyahu had sought to postpone the completion of the enactment of the conscription law until after the elections.

The bureau responded: "It did not exist and was not created.".
