Another peak in tensions between the United States and IranUS President Donald Trump published an unusual message on his social media account Truth this evening (Sunday), in which he said that an Iranian cargo ship was intercepted by the US Navy in the Gulf of Oman - and that the ship is now under full US control.
""Today, an Iranian-flagged cargo ship named TOUSKA, nearly 900 feet long and the weight of an aircraft carrier, attempted to break through our naval blockade, and it didn't go well for them," the president tweeted.
""The US Navy guided missile destroyer USS SPRUANCE intercepted the TOUSKA in the Gulf of Oman and gave them fair warning to stop. The Iranian crew refused to listen, so our Navy ship stopped them on the spot by blowing a hole in the engine room.".
The President emphasized: "Currently, the U.S. Marine Corps is in custody of the ship. The TOUSKA is under sanctions by the U.S. Treasury Department due to a prior history of illegal activity.".
He warned: "We have full custody of the ship, and we see everything that happens on board!""
