Development in the investigation: The central unit of the Tel Aviv District Police arrested another suspect today (Sunday) in connection with the murder of the late Eviatar Azarzar.
Recently, there was a development in the investigation, and on Sunday a week ago, the central unit of the Tel Aviv District arrested three suspects, in their 30s, residents of Bnei Brak.
This morning, another suspect, in his 20s, a resident of Bnei Brak, was arrested.
Tomorrow the suspect will be brought to the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court for a hearing on extending his detention.
The murder case has been under investigation for more than 6 years: On December 27, 2019, the body of the late Eviatar was found, riddled with bullets, in a pit in an open area, near a cemetery at the Morasha intersection, after about three weeks of searching for him.
The last time Azrazar was seen alive was in the early evening hours of December 7, 2019, when, according to friends, he was spotted walking around the intersection of Jabotinsky and Ben Gurion streets in Ramat Gan. His family and friends notified the police of his absence - after he did not answer their phone calls.
After three weeks of searching, he was found in a pit that had been flooded by rains on the last weekend of December. A ZAKA volunteer, who was touring the Morasha intersection area in an ATV, noticed the open pit in the area near the new cemetery in Ramat Hasharon. Police forces called to the scene recovered the body.
As part of an investigation conducted by the Tel Aviv Police Department, a variety of investigative actions and many efforts were made, with the aim of unraveling the case and reaching the truth.
According to the suspicion that has been investigated since the murder, Azarzar - the son of Rabbi Eliyahu Azarzar, Rosh Yeshiva in Jerusalem - who only a few months before was still studying at the yeshiva, fell victim to the "Red Cap" exercise.
Criminal elements with whom he was apparently in contact lured him to the isolated scene at the Morasha intersection, where the assassins were waiting for him and shot him to death at close range.
The main assessment of the investigating authorities was that this was a murder committed in the context of a criminal conflict.
