This evening (Saturday night), at around 11:20 PM, a report was received at the ZAKA hotline about a 58-year-old man who was found in his home on Remez Street in Safed - long after his death, in a state of decomposition.

ZAKA Northern District volunteers worked at the scene, treating the deceased with dignity and collecting the remains.

Moti Cohen, a volunteer from the Northern District ZAKA, said: "When we arrived at the scene, we were greeted by a strong odor coming from the apartment. We saw the body of a 58-year-old man in an advanced state of decomposition. The Northern District ZAKA volunteers are working to honor the deceased and collect the remains.".

Rabbi Anshel Friedman, commander of the Northern District ZAKA, added: "We have recently witnessed a worrying increase in cases of this type, of people who are found long after their death without anyone noticing. This is the 'silent epidemic' of loneliness. I urge the public to pay attention to their immediate surroundings, check what is happening with the neighbors, one knock on the door once a day can save a life.""
