Despite promises that the bridges over the Litani will be destroyed and the movement of residents will be blocked: Tonight (Friday night), after the ceasefire went into effect, rapid reconstruction work was documented, allowing residents to resume movement back to their homes, alongside documentation of convoys of civilian vehicles crossing south.
This is despite the fact that both the IDF Arabic spokesman and the Lebanese army have issued warnings to avoid reaching the combat zones and villages where IDF forces are still present.
During the night, the Lebanese army tried to stop the mass return, and around 3:00 AM, it issued a statement calling on civilians to postpone their return because the IDF continues to attack and violates the agreement.
The bridges in the area of the coastal town of Al-Qasmiya in the Tyre sector, which the IDF worked to cut off in order to prevent the transfer of weapons and terrorists, were restored overnight. According to reports in Lebanon, civilians began to open the road manually, and later joined the work of Lebanese army engineering vehicles.
This morning, it was reported that the bridge had been opened to vehicle traffic. Similar reports also came from the Az-Zararia Bridge in the Falasiya district, where traffic had resumed and vehicles were seen crossing the river southward.
All this despite the fact that the IDF defined the area south of the Litani as a "destruction zone", and Defense Minister Israel Katz pledged: "The IDF will control the Litani area from a security perspective, and the return of 600,000 residents of southern Lebanon who evacuated to the north will not be allowed - until the security of the residents of the north is guaranteed.".
