US President Donald Trump claimed this evening (Thursday), in remarks he delivered in the courtyard of the White House, that Iran is on the verge of surrendering to key US demands.
According to him, "it agreed to hand over to the US the enriched uranium buried in the ground.".
Trump added that another meeting within the framework of the negotiations is expected to take place over the weekend.
The president made it clear that the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz is "holding up well" and is pushing Tehran into a corner. "They are willing to do things they were not willing to do in the past," the president said.
According to him, Iran agreed to two critical conditions that until now had been a red line for it - to transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium and a formal promise not to develop nuclear weapons for more than 20 years.
""It looks like we'll make a deal with Iran," Trump said, but added: "If there's no deal, we'll go back to fighting.".
Following the announcement of a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, Trump made it clear that the terrorist organization Hezbollah would be an integral part of the understandings. "Very exciting. I think we'll have a deal. The leaders of Lebanon and Israel could meet at the White House next week or two weeks to try to make peace. I had very good conversations with them today.".
