Argentine President Javier Milay, one of Israel's greatest friends, was asked to arrive in Israel early, in order to pre-record the torch-lighting ceremony.
According to a report this evening (Wednesday) on 'Kan News', there is still uncertainty regarding the ceremony, and no final directive has been received regarding approval for its dress rehearsal.
However, recording of some parts of the ceremony has already begun, just to be on the safe side.
During the guest's visit, President Yitzhak Herzog will award him the "Presidential Decoration" - the highest civilian decoration in Israel.
The decision was made following the recommendation of the advisory committee headed by retired Supreme Court Justice Dr. Yoram Danziger, which unanimously selected Milley in recognition of his consistent and public support for Israel since taking office in 2023.
President Millay has positioned Argentina as a key ally of Israel on the international stage. Since the beginning of his term, he has demonstrated unqualified support, stood by the families of the kidnapped, and expressed a deep connection to Jewish tradition.
The highlight of his policy is his announcement to move the Argentine embassy to Jerusalem, a step he will officially implement during his upcoming visit.
