The Lebanese Al-Mayadeen network, affiliated with Hezbollah, reported this afternoon (Wednesday) that, following pressure from Iran, a ceasefire will be launched in Lebanon - for a week.
A senior Iranian official told the network: "The ceasefire will last a week - the end of the ceasefire period between Iran and the United States.".
On the other hand, a senior Israeli official claims following the report in Lebanon: "We did not receive a decision or request to cease fire.".
Amid reports of a possible ceasefire in Lebanon, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will hold a limited security discussion tonight at 7:00 PM, and later the political-security cabinet will convene at 8:00 PM.
The discussions are expected to deal with recent developments in the northern arena and the political and military options facing Israel.
Earlier, the Associated Press reported that mediators are close to extending the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran.
