Baruch Dayan, the truth teller: Educator Mrs. Chaya Pollak, a resident of the Ahisamach neighborhood in Lod, passed away yesterday (Tuesday) at the age of 85, leaving behind a glorious legacy of education, kindness, and modesty.
The deceased was born in Jerusalem on the 11th of Elul, 5750, to her parents, Rabbi Zvi and Yocheved Kurz, z"l, who fled the terror of the Nazis in Austria. From them she inherited the love of Torah and contentment with little.
Upon reaching puberty, she married her husband, the late Rabbi Dov Pollak, and together they were blessed to establish a home of Torah and piety.
The deceased was known as an educational figure, who brought many closer to their heavenly Father. She was like a mother to them, and many of them remained in a personal and warm relationship with her throughout the years.
She wrote extensively in women's newspaper supplements and was even a co-author and editor of the mythological book "Our Childhood.".
All her acquaintances remember the special glow of her face and her wonderful ability to see the good in everyone and everything. "Her radiant personality brought joy to those around her. Her modesty and simplicity were a byword. She was disgusted with modern material life and saw it as an obstacle to all the joy and satisfaction of life," they testify.
Her daily routine was filled with prayer and supplications for her descendants and all of Israel, asking for the success of future generations in the devoted path.
She left behind a blessed generation of righteous people: five sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all continue in the way of God, and her sisters from the Gurvitz and Mayzlik families.
Her funeral left yesterday afternoon from the Shamgar Funeral Home for Mount Hamunehot, where she was buried.
The eulogy was given by her cousin, the gaon Rabbi Baruch Shapira, chairman of Lev Laachim, the gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Diskin, one of the leaders of the Netiv HaDaat yeshiva, her nephew Rabbi Yeshayahu Kosovsky, and her son Rabbi Yosef Pollak of the Abrahi neighborhood of Romema - all of whom stood for the principle of contentment with little, her joy of life, and her radiant personality.
The family members sit together in their home, 40 Yahad Shveti Yisrael Street, Ahisamach neighborhood.
