Disasters between times: A team from the 'Lahava' unit and divers were called out this evening (Sunday) to the Ein Akev spring in the Negev - following a report of a yeshiva student missing from the spring.

"A search team from the Lehava unit, led by the unit commander, is on their way to the Ein Aqeb spring, following a report of a missing person, who according to indications likely drowned in the spring," the unit's statement said.

""The team, which includes divers from the unit, who are certified for dives to locate and search for missing persons, is on its way to the scene on the Israel Police Air Force helicopter.".

Ein Aqeb is a natural and impressive stratified spring that flows year-round in the heart of Ramat Avdat in the Negev, near Midreshet Ben-Gurion. The place is famous for its round and deep pool - about 7 meters, surrounded by a waterfall wall, stream vegetation and ibex, and is a popular spot for bathing and refreshing yourself on desert trips.
