The chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Boaz Bismuth, commented this evening (Saturday), in an interview with the program 'Pirutim', on the two-week ceasefire in attacks on Iran - saying that it is still too early to sum up the campaign.
When asked by presenter Yinon Magal about his assessments of Iran, he said: "The Americans have not returned even a single soldier to the US, and they are even strengthening their forces. I am almost certain that Iran will soon kidnap. I would not be surprised, on the contrary - I am almost certain that Iran will soon kidnap.".
Bismuth explained that this assessment is based on the intelligence and operational information to which he was exposed by virtue of his position: "This regime is the same regime, and they are masters at lying. They don't know how to behave differently.".
He said, "There are goals in this war. The game is not over. In the interim summary, the situation is excellent for Israel. If this were a soccer score, it would be 30-1 in our favor. The Iranians will continue to lie and spread a lot of fake news in the coming days, but Israel knows exactly what it wants. In the end, this regime will not last.".
About Lebanon, he said: "There are very clear and very broad plans. The Prime Minister talked about kilometers and extensive operations, and this is far beyond what we even think. If the residents of the north were exposed to the upcoming plans – the next stages – they would sign them, believe me.".
During the interview, Bismuth harshly attacked the media and commentators who express pessimistic views about the results of the war.
""There is chaos and madness in the propaganda channels. They are no longer opposition to the government, they are opposition to the state. When I sometimes read articles in the Israeli media, I have the feeling that some of the reporters could have been hired by the Iranian news agency 'IRNA.' It's just crazy how we play into the enemy's hands.".
In response to criticism of the prime minister's statement that Israel is "one step away from complete victory," Bismuth replied: "When you are a leader, you look at things in a historical perspective. From a historical perspective, a few more months is really 'short.' The citizens are willing to give this time on one condition - that we bring victory.".
Bismuth addressed the draft law and assured that the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee he chairs is working to promote it even during the recess. "The law is in my drawer, it's ready and I open it every morning and smile.".
Bismuth presented the numerical goals of the law: "In a year and a half we will reach 7,500, and within three years we will reach 23,000 Haredi soldiers – that's 60 battalions. This is history! Those who study Torah will continue to study Torah, and I have enormous respect for them, but those who don't study will go to the Israel Defense Forces. The Torah brought me here, and the army protects me.".
He concluded optimistically: "In ten years, there will be nothing more common than an ultra-Orthodox person in the IDF. We are changing the world order.".
