United States President Donald Trump announced this evening (Thursday) that the United States will not attack Iran before the midterm congressional elections, which will be held on November 3.
The president wrote in a message he posted on his social media: "We are holding fruitful discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran.".
He added that Iran is in a difficult situation both economically and militarily, but stressed that American pressure on it will continue. He said that the blockade on Iran will remain in full force, while oil tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz continues at an exceptionally high volume.
Trump noted that last night alone, 22 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz, and that none of it came from or was destined for Iran.
The president later made it clear: "We will not attack Iran at any point before the midterm elections that will be held in the United States on November 3.".
Along with pledging to refrain from attacking until the election, Trump signed his statement with a strong message: "Iran will not have nuclear weapons!".
