Defense Minister Yisrael Katz today (Tuesday) instructed the IDF to increase alertness in the Gaza Strip and prepare for any possible scenario ahead of October 7 - which falls tomorrow. This follows information about Hamas' intentions to attempt to carry out attacks and terrorist attacks against IDF forces in the Strip.
Katz emphasized that we must prepare for the most severe scenarios and act with great force in response to any information and warning received, with the aim of thwarting any threat - and this is "beyond the powerful activity that is being carried out today.".
The Defense Minister warned Hamas of a severe response in the event of an attack on IDF forces.
""If, God forbid, there is an attack on our forces, the one who will pay the heavy price is Hamas and the population of Gaza, beyond all proportion," he said.
The minister emphasized that a similar message was also made clear this week during a visit he made with the Prime Minister to the Kissufim outpost on the border with the Gaza Strip, together with the Major General of the Southern Command.
