Nine sheep and a shepherd dog died today (Tuesday) and 41 additional sheep were injured in a poisoning incident in grazing areas on one of the hills near the Alon Road in Binyamin.
According to residents in the area, a terrorist squad that came from the direction of the village of Al-Mu'ayr infiltrated the grazing areas and poured a toxic substance into a water trough used by the flocks of sheep.
In the afternoon, the herd arrived at the trough. According to the shepherds, just a minute later, they noticed to their horror that dozens of sheep began to show symptoms of poisoning, convulsing on the ground and dying.
Residents were called to the scene with veterinary medicine in an attempt to save the animals. So far, nine sheep have died in agony, and more than 40 have been injured and treated.
The shepherd dog that accompanied the flock also drank from the trough. Shortly thereafter, it too began to suffer severe symptoms and died.
Security forces called to the scene began searching the area in an attempt to locate the terrorists.
According to the residents, this is the 13th poisoning incident in the pastures in the Alon Highway area over the past year, and they attribute the incidents to a cell operating from the village of Al-Mu'ayr.
In previous incidents, they said, only a few sheep died each time, while this time the number of animals affected is unusually large.
