A senior IDF official today (Tuesday) addressed the riot of hundreds of Haredim that occurred last night after midnight in the city of Modi'in, in response to the arrest of a Haredi defector, and the stinging humiliation of the military police officers - who were forced to release him.
According to a report this evening (Tuesday) by Daniel Grubeis on 'Kan News', the senior officer claimed that the IDF is dealing with massive protest formations and that "young soldiers in the military police have no chance against this event.".
He added that the army "must receive police assistance with much larger forces - in order to arrest deserters.".
The ultra-Orthodox parties are debating whether the arrests of defectors and the demonstrations that accompany them help or hurt the campaign and the turnout of voters.
As reported by Haredim 10, hundreds of Haredi protesters surrounded the home of a Haredi defector, a student at the 'Or Chaim' yeshiva, last night, in protest of his arrest.
The protesters broke into the building, and after severe clashes that developed between them and police officers who were called to the scene, the forces surrendered - and the deserter was released.
