Closing the loop: After a lengthy intelligence investigation, the IDF and Shin Bet revealed today (Friday) that the commander of the Northern Gaza Brigade in Hamas' military wing, terrorist Izz al-Din Bayk, who was eliminated on Tuesday in the Gaza Strip, commanded the holding of many Israeli hostages during the war.
Before being appointed commander of the Northern Brigade during the Iron Swords War, Al-Din Bek held a number of positions, including commander of the West Jabalia Battalion, and commander of the military intelligence headquarters in the Northern Brigade.
As part of his duties, he promoted and financed numerous terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens and was one of the founders of the Nuhba formation in the northern Gaza Strip.
In addition, the terrorist commanded and took part in a raid into Israeli territory on the morning of October 7th.
Throughout the war and by virtue of his role as head of the northern Gaza Strip, Ezz al-Din Bikh commanded the holding of many hostages in Hamas captivity - including: Mia Shem, Hasham Asaid, Amit Buskila, Uriel Baruch, Corporal Nick Beiser, Sergeant Ron Sherman, Elia Toledano, Shani Luke, Michel Nissenbaum, Sergeant Tamir Nimrudi, Yitzhak Gelrenter, Eitan Levy, Hanan Yablonka, Ron Binyamin, and Orion Hernandez.
""The elimination of terrorist Ezz al-Din Bik constitutes an important closing of a circle for the IDF and Shin Bet, who will continue to act forcefully against the terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre," said a joint statement from the IDF and Shin Bet.
