Volunteers from the Galilee-Carmel rescue unit rescued two 16-year-old boys from Ashdod this morning (Friday).

The two boys walked along the black-marked path leading from the Meron area toward Safed. After walking for about half an hour, one of the boys began to notice a deterioration in his condition and suffered from extreme weakness and severe symptoms of dehydration.

His friend called the rescue forces via an MDA dispatch center.

A rescue team from the unit, including a medical team, joined the boy on the scene. The unit's paramedic provided him with initial medical treatment, which included administering fluids and cooling the body.

Later, an MDA ambulance team entered the depths of the reserve.

The boy refused to be evacuated by ambulance.
