In a joint and complex operational activity led by the Samaria Brigade, in close coordination with the General Security Service, fighters from the elite, turbulent "Gideonim" unit from Blade 433 raided the Balta refugee camp last night (Wednesday), with the aim of locating and capturing a senior wanted fugitive.
The force covertly arrived at the building where the suspect was staying - a 35-year-old Tanzim operative, a resident of Kfar Kalil, who is defined in the security establishment as a sensitive operative with high access to weapons.
As the fighters broke into the building and quickly identified the wanted man, the terrorist began to resist the force and attempted to flee the scene.
In an immediate, determined and precise response, the unit's fighters fired targeted shots at the wanted man's lower body to prevent his escape and neutralize the danger.
The terrorist was shot in the legs, neutralized, and handcuffed at the scene.
After receiving initial medical treatment by the force's paramedics in the field, he was transferred for further treatment and investigation to the General Security Service facilities.
Throughout the dramatic activity in the heart of the camp, no casualties were recorded among our forces.
